Director's message
Welcome to the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) TVET Institute. We are situated in the port city of Mombasa, within the Technical University of Mombasa.
The Institute was launched in 2016 and is fully accredited by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) to provide technical and vocational training. We endeavour to offer skill-based training in line with the goal of employment creation as well as wealth creation, through the application of Science, Technology and Innovation.
We are committed to maintaining the rich history we inherited from the Mombasa Polytechnic, and we have a strong, diverse workforce committed to the provision of quality education and training.

Who we are
Our background
The TUM TVET Institute is located in Mombasa and operates under the Technical University of Mombasa. It was established in 2016 following a University Council decision that converted the Directorate of TVET into a full Institute.
The Institute is fully accredited by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA), Ministry of Education, to provide training in Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
It endeavours to offer skill-based training in line with the goal of employment creation as well as wealth creation through the application of Science, Technology and Innovation. Trainees receive intensive hands-on training in their particular trade areas, and a mandatory industrial attachment.
